The Newark Museum
Embodying the Sacred in Yoruba Art
June 4–August 24
This exhibition explores the relationship between art and the spiritual world. The exhibition presents nearly 70 works of art in diverse media, including shrines and beaded regalia that reference the supreme deity of the Yoruba, altar images and ritual implements, plus a variety of spectacular masks that dramatize the presence of the sublime.
Jazz in the Garden

For more than 40 years, The Newark Museum has presented all–star lineups of jazz greats during its annual Jazz in the Garden Summer Concert Series. Held rain or shine, Jazz in the Garden offers its audience an opportunity to enjoy wonderful music in a magnificent and serene museum setting.
Morris Museum
New Jersey: Then & Now
May 13–September 14
In collaboration with the prestigious ACA Galleries, New York, this exhibition presents a comprehensive view of New Jersey art, dating as far back as a Morristown grave rubbing done by a local high school student in 1780 to powerful contemporary paintings and sculptures by New Jersey native Chris Kappmeier.
Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey
Private Lives
August 6 – August 31
One of Noël Coward’s most famous and successful comedies. Performances are Tuesdays through Sundays at The Shakespeare Theatre’s Main Stage, the F. M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre, 36 Madison Avenue in Madison. Order tickets online or call 973.408.5600.
